Daily Deviation

Given 2009-10-11
Pink by *yukitan is a gorgeous, eyecatching 3D portrait, with a wonderful facial expression. ( Featured by `joannastar )

At first glance I initially thought that you had adapted a photograph, but then up on further viewing realised that you had indeed mad this piece from scratch yourself. The details in skin tone, make up (thus giving her a pink element) and hair are very realistic, giving the piece a "photo-real" effect, which makes it stand apart from other pieces I have seen in this medium or subject matter. The bone structure in the face is also spot on when compared to that of a real girl. I loved the folds in the fabric of her dress and the natural fall of her earring, but feel that her garment could have benefited from being a little tighter to her body (unless intended to be looser, like a shirt / waist coat perhaps?) But since this is a critique, I do also have suggestions for how this piece could be made stronger,( and hope I don't sound insulting as my own artistic skills are not strong enough to make anything close to this!)
a) left ear, whilst at correct angle / location, doesn't quite blend in, but just adding a tiny bit more hair stands to that area might help, making it look like its poking out between the natural fall of her hair. b) her hand. the skin tone doesn't quite match, making her hand paler than other body parts, think it should be closer in tone to that of her shoulder or chest. also finger nails look raised / false, but i do understand that nails can sometimes be the hardest as well as the most over looked detail in works of this nature. c) gold cuff. your skill in reproducing / designing jewellery is very strong, and you have gotten the shadows , light fall and sparkle in the right places, but feel that the cuff is a little too masculine for the character and that a bangle, keeping the top part of the pre-existing part, with the brown stones in tact, then perhaps allowing bare arm or a lace cuff to match the clothing would be better.
I hope that my comments have been fair and will help to aid you in future works. All in all a very strong piece which is deserving of it's deviation of the day award.

She reminds me of Heather Mason(sh3), Link(legend of Zelda), and some character from Soul Calibur. This is quite beautiful.

Hello!

I recently noticed your great Poser® image when I was browsing around after setting up the Smith Micro account here at deviantART. I’m currently working on a project to collect some of the best images representing the “Faces of Poser” to assemble into a gallery online. I would appreciate it if you would consider submitting this (and/or other images) for us to use as an example of the variety of characters rendered by artists using the Poser software.

If you decide to submit this or any additional artwork to Smith Micro, you can do so using the Artwork Submission form here, where you can also find the submission specifications and Terms & Conditions. We will always credit you as the artist if we use your image, and if we post your image here on deviantART, will link back to the original, as well as your artist page. When submitting your image(s), please make note in the “additional credit” box that you are submitting to the “Faces of Poser” collection, and of your deviantID so we can reference you.

Thank you for your consideration,
